Is CashCrate a scam?
The important question as to whether CashCrate is a scam or not isn't if they pay or not. CashCrate does pay. However, the bigger issue is that CashCrate doesn't pay well. You don't stand to make a lot of money for the amount of time that you put into doing surveys and completing offers. That is unfortunate. Also, CashCrate asks its members to participate in multi-level marketing or MLM. MLM is frowned upon by the FTC and the FTC has issued an advisory against it.

You don't make a lot. If you don't complete the surveys accurately with all of your details, you don't get paid. As well, the amount that you make is worse than a minimum wage job. Some think that this is okay because you get to work from home. However, it can be worse than $2.00/hour and you could make more money from home doing other activities online that are legitimate. Some claim to make $16.00/hour or more, but that might not be entirely true. They could possibly make that maybe once, meaning that they could make $16.00 in one day working one hour, but they won't be able to keep doing that. For one, the offers and surveys would all be completed. They can only make money when there are surveys available to complete. As well, one person may not be eligible for all the surveys because of geography or gender or some other market demographic detail. You could make a lot more by doing affiliate marketing. It will make you more money in less time and will require less effort after you've gotten started.

CashCrate uses multi-level marketing which isn't supported by the FTC. The FTC doesn't actually like MLM and advises against it. CashCrate has a Bronze level for referrals in multi-level marketing which means you make 20% of what your referrals make and 10% of what their referrals make. This sounds great, but it isn't really. First of all, most people don't make a lot of money off of CashCrate. So, a small percentage of a small amount of money isn't a lot. You can try to get more referrals, but even then, they may make $0, or $0.25 a day. And that may only be a small percentage of your referrals.
You don't really make a lot of money this way. If you really wanted to you would have to spend an awful lot of time marketing out your referral link. With the amount of energy you spend doing this, you could already be making way more doing something else online.

Doing CashCrate surveys means giving out your mailing address and phone number to CashCrate where it is passed on to third-parties. You are also exposed to ads and other offers. This can make the surveys and offers take even more time to accomplish and further, CashCrate makes quite a bit of money doing this, and very little of it will be passed onto the CashCrate members.

I can't say for certain if CashCrate is a scam, but I have definitely stopped using them altogether and won't be going back. I don't like how it takes so long to complete surveys having to click through so many ads and questions for only $0.25. And sometimes if things are missing, or even slightly incorrect, you don't get paid for a completed survey. I also agree with FTC's advisory to avoid multi-level marketing or companies like CashCrate that utilize this. I will also be avoiding CashCrate for that reason. There are other better methods out there to make money online from home.
